Crisis Support

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, call 509-335-4511 during business hours. If you call, please tell us you are in crisis so we can help you get the services you need. We will schedule you for a same-day crisis appointment.  

If CAPS is closed, you can call the after-hours crisis phone number - 509-335-2159 - if you need immediate care. The after-hours crisis phone is available after 5 p.m. on weekdays, all day on weekends, and all day during university holidays. 
 

Examples of crisis situations may include: 

  • Thoughts of suicide, wanting to end your life 
  • Recent sexual assault 
  • Recent physical assault 
  • The recent death of a close friend or family member 
  • Hearing voices or seeing things that aren’t there 
  • Feeling like you might seriously harm someone 
  • Not being able to sleep for several nights 
  • Not being able to function due to extreme psychological distress
